Livestock Fence Cost Calculator

Describe a rectangular pasture or enter a total fence length, then set wire strands, post spacing, and your own prices. You'll get the perimeter, posts, wire length, and an estimated material cost. It does not decide what fence your animals need.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the general Fence Calculator?

The general Fence Calculator counts panels and posts from a length and panel width. This one plans wire fencing: perimeter, strands, post spacing, wire length, and a cost estimate from your own prices.

Why enter my own prices?

Material prices change by region and supplier. Using your own quotes keeps the estimate relevant.

How many strands should I use?

That depends on the animals, the fence type, and local guidance. This calculator does not decide it; it multiplies whatever number you choose.

What post spacing should I use?

Follow your wire or post manufacturer's guidance and local practice. The tool uses the spacing you enter.

Does this cover gates and corner braces?

Add them in the extra posts count and the other costs field. The tool does not design corners or gates.

Will this fence keep my livestock in?

Not necessarily. Containment depends on species, design, tension, electrification, and maintenance. Check manufacturer and local requirements.
