Frequently asked questions
Can I run more than one timer at the same time?
Yes - click "Add another timer" to add as many independent countdowns as you need, each with its own name, minutes/seconds, and start/pause/reset controls. They all run at the same time, so you can track several things at once, like a multi-course meal.
Can I name each timer?
Yes - each timer has a text field above its countdown where you can label it (e.g. "Pasta" or "Laundry") so it's clear which is which when you're running several at once.
Does this online timer keep running if I switch browser tabs?
Yes - every countdown runs in the background as long as this browser tab stays open, even if it's not the active tab. Closing the tab or your browser stops all of them.
Will each timer make its own sound when it finishes?
Yes - a short beep plays for each timer individually when its countdown reaches zero, along with that timer's display changing to "Time's up!", so you know exactly which one finished.
Can I remove a timer I no longer need?
Yes - click the × button on a timer's header to remove it. The page always keeps at least one timer, so the last remaining one can't be removed.
Does the timer keep counting down if my computer goes to sleep?
No - if the device sleeps or the browser is suspended, all running countdowns pause along with it and resume (slightly behind) when the device wakes, since each relies on the browser tab actively running.
Can I set a timer for an exact number of seconds only, like 90 seconds?
Yes - enter 0 minutes and 90 seconds, or 1 minute and 30 seconds, on any timer; both produce the same 90-second countdown since minutes and seconds are combined into total time.
Is this the same as a 'countdown clock' for a specific event date?
No - each timer here counts down a fixed duration you set in minutes and seconds, like a kitchen timer. To count down to a specific future date, use a date-based countdown tool instead.
