Frequently asked questions
How is this different from the Corn Yield Calculator?
The Corn Yield Calculator estimates grain yield per acre from ear and kernel counts. This tool is a general per-plant or per-area estimator for garden and market vegetables, using rates you enter.
Where do I get the yield per plant?
Use your own records from past seasons, seed catalog notes, or local extension guidance. Because yields vary widely, no default crop figures are built in.
What should I put for losses?
Include what you expect to lose to pests, disease, weather, culls, and spoilage. Ten percent is only a placeholder, so adjust it to your experience.
Can I use it for several crops?
Run each crop separately and add the totals. Each crop has its own yield rate.
How can I estimate how many plants fit my bed?
The Plant Population Calculator turns row and plant spacing into a plant count, and the Vegetable Seed Calculator gives the seeds to buy for them.
Does it work in metric?
Yes. Enter kilograms and matching area units, such as square meters and kilograms per square meter, and results are shown in both pounds and kilograms.
